 1: Sara Leyland ..... September 02, 2017 - 11:31 AM Delete entry # 1

I am looking for any information regarding Ralph Leyland Snr - who lived and owned/leased Martin Hall Farm 1850's - 1870's and also his son Peter who lived at some point at Renacres Hall when it was also a farm in the same time period. I have some documents and photographs which I am willing to share with other history enthusiasts. Any help or information will be very much appreciated.

  for Howarth.
Thanks for contacting us - I've been adding some of the details you sent to our Boatfamilies site, as the earlier generations of these Mosses are already there (with a few small discrepancies). I'd like to compare notes before we update the site, so do please follow the link in Kate Hurst's message below and I'll send you our revised data.

  Message for Howarth:

Thank you for the information on the Moss family; I think you have got a few details there that we haven't got on our boat families website, so I'm sure that will be of interest.

In case you want to make direct contact, you can go to our boat families website, then the Info subheading, and you'll find a Contact Us section at the end of the drop-down menu.

If we can help further, please let us know.

My husbands mother was Mary Moss born 1922.She was the daughter of Richard Moss who as a young man worked on the barges with his father Thomas Moss.Thomas was the son of John Moss and Rachel Bolton whom I believe came from Burscough. This John Moss was th son of John Moss born in Bretherton and Ellin Wignall.of Croston. They were married by parents consent in St Michael All Angels in Croston.1815.i was wondering if anyone else has any more information.I believe there may be a Welsh connection.I have found John Moss master of the Rob Roy berthed in Albert Dock Liverpool. This boat was registered in Holyhead Angelsy.

Can anyone help with the family of Burscough boatman Thomas Ashcroft, b 1865, son of Adam? He and wife Ann (formerly Mather or Reynolds)are in Mart Lane in the 1911 census with daughter Ellen, b 1909. Another daughter, Florence, was born in 1912. Perhaps there are descendants who could confirm the identity of Ann for our Boatfamilies website.

  for Sheila Darzi
Though Baldwin and Forshaw are top Boatfamily names, I'm afraid I can see no canal link in the people you mention.
Sorry, but good luck with your research - Keith Jenkins, ODFHS Boatfamilies researcher

  A reply for Paul Ashcraft:

Thanks for letting us know that you’ll be visiting Ormskirk; I’m sure that we’ll be able to sort something out, given that you have given us a few weeks notice.

I’m not sure whether or not you have already contacted ODFHS directly, but (if not) please do feel free to e-mail the address at the top of this page (or contact us on Facebook, if you use that site) with any information that you think might help. It is possible that we might have some information in our Research Library that could help you.

I'm going to be visiting Ormskirk in May from the USA--I wanted to meet with someone regarding trying to track the "Ascroft" family history prior to the Revolution.
